2018 has begun with only two games for our Ultimate Civic League.  Some hot shooting in both games proved some players have been working on their game over Summer.

7.05PM The Splashers  83 def. St. Marys Sharks 67

The Splashers came out with a chip on their shoulder after a tough loss in finals last season. A couple of changes to the roster proved to pay dividends with Nic Uzelac dropping 26 points, including four 3 pointers, which led the team to a comfortable 16 point win. Former NBL player, Matt Shanahan, played the role of floor general for The Splashers, controlling the game on both ends of the floor. The team will look to lean on his experience as they hope to improve on last years performance. The Sharks came out with a similar game plan to last season, with a Mike D’Antoni inspired ‘Run N Gun’ style of play. Connecting on eleven 3 pointers for the game is what kept St. Mary’s from being completely blown out,  Mark Scherf and Tom boek leading the way with 19 points each.
