Guam athletes named Sportspersons of the Games

Guam athletes received two more awards during the closing ceremony of the 8th Micronesian Games held at the Pohnpei Track and Field venue.  Jagger Stephens and Pilar Shimizu were awarded engraved paddles as their souvenir for being named sportspersons of the Games.  Stephens took home 10 gold and 1 silver medal while Shimizu walked away with 8 gold and 1 silver medal.  According to the announcement made during the closing ceremony, a FINA representative was quoted saying, “both athletes should easily qualify for the RIO Olympic Games via B qualifying times.”
