The Northern Knights had three players drafted in the 2008 NAB AFL National Draft. Michael Hurley, David Zaharakis and Michael Still are all heading to Windy Hill after being pick up by the Bombers.
Hurley's name was called out early on with Essendon's first round selection (Pick 5). Hurley was the Knights Vice Captain in 2008, as well as Vic Metro Co-Captain. His strong performances in defence earned him consecutive U/18 All Australian and TAC Cup Team of the Year honours.
It wasn't a much longer wait for Zaharakis, the Knights 2008 Captain and Vic Metro Co-Captain. Zaharakis was named U/18 All Australian and TAC Cup Team of the Year in 2008.
The third Knights player to head to Essendon was Still, who led the Knights in goal kicking as a bottom aged player in 2008. He was taken at Pick 55.
It's an extremely unique situation where three players drafted out of the same TAC Cup club end up at the same AFL club. The Knights would like to offer their congratulations to our draft trio and wish them the best of luck at the Bombers.
