At the age of 10 years, I was introduced to the sport of Boxing, by my older brother Tom. I fought for the Parekura Club.
1960: Avatiu Club - My inspiration, coaching, encouragement, motivation and mentoring came from the President of the Cook Islands Boxing Association Dr Pupuke Robati, who later became Prime Ministerof the Cook Islands and during his term in the office, was knighted, Sir Pupuke Robati.
1961: Cook Islands Welterweight Champion
1962:Cook Islands Light Middleweight Champion
1963: Cook Islands Welterweight Champion, The First South Pacific Games Fiji, won Gold Medal - Welterweight Division, Toro George Gold Medal - Featherweight, Piri Puroto Silver Medal - Middleweight Ti George Robati Silver Medal - Light Heavyweight, Kau Pupa Athletics Silver Medal.
1966: Represented New Zealand - Commonwealth Games in Jamaica - Welterweight Division, 1966 -67 Commonwealth Land Forces Far East Championship in Singapore - Light Middleweight Champion.
Sports Coaching - Boxing 1968 set up the Burnham military CampBoxing Club, 1972 Co-founder with Billy Opetaia set up in Otara Boxing Club. 1986 Appointed as National Boxing Coach/Trainer1987 Host New Zealand Development Squad, Negotiated for Sponsors and prepare the home boxers for Competition. 1987 Host Oceania Boxing Championship Rarotonga Cook Islands - a huge project undertaken for the preparation and recruitment of representatives from every island in the Cook islands. Final selection for the team was held in Rarotonga. Results 3 x Silver Medals & 5 x Bronze Medals.1987 South Pacific Games New Caledonia Trainer/Coach for the Cook Islands Boxing Team. 1988 Oceania Boxing Championship, Tahiti Coach for the Cook Islands Team & Olympic Games in Seoul South Korea - Cook Ioslands first participation at the Olympic Games Manager/Coach for the Cook islands Boxing Team. secretary General for CISNOC. 1987-88 Delegate Boxing Association, 1988 Secretary General for CISOA, 1991 VP for CISOA, 1993 -94 Member of Administration and Coaching Commission for CISOA
1987 - Cook Islands Squash - Edgewater Squash Complex, Successfully negotiated to lease the Squash Complex for the pupose of introducing,teaching and promoting the game of squash to a very high standard in the Cook Islands. Also formalized the Cook Islands Squash Racqute Association. 1995 member of the 5 Men Team to 7th South Pacific Squash Cup Championship - Samoa 1962 Played Rugby for the Avatiu Premier Grade, indeed the highlight of my Rugby Career.
